Frequently Asked Questions

Question How long have you been in business?
Answer Jeremy Jackson and Brandon LeRoy founded Jackson & LeRoy Remodeling in 2005.  With a combined 23 years of experience in the construction industry and bachelor degrees in Construction Management from Brigham Young University, Jackson & LeRoy Remodeling is committed to providing the highest quality remodeling and building services, with a passion for client satisfaction.

Question Where do you work?
Answer Our core work is along the east bench of Salt Lake City.

Question What kind of work do you do?
Answer We specialize in high-end remodeling and custom homes.

Question Do you competitively bid jobs?
Answer We prefer to negotiate contracts with Owners. We provide a cost analysis once we are the preferred contractor for the job, rather than offer free bids on speculation. Detailed estimating can take numerous hours. We have found our time and focus is more productively spent with clients who seriously want us to undertake their projects.

Question How do we get started?
Answer After our initial conversation, an appointment is made to view the project. At the meeting, we have a thorough discussion about the scope of work and the time frame – in order to decide if the project is going to be mutually beneficial. If the relationship is deemed beneficial, then we can provide you with a preconstruction agreement.

Question What is a preconstruction agreement?
Answer We can provide preconstruction services during the design phase of a project. This includes finding an architect (if one is not in place), estimates, schedules, recommendations with regard to materials and construction details, and more.

Question How much will the work cost?
Answer We provide estimates for the cost of work. Much of our work is “Cost-plus”, meaning the cost of your project will be the sum of all labor, trade professional invoices, material invoices, and general conditions, plus a fee.

Question Will I get the best price with Jackson & LeRoy Remodeling?
Answer We may not be the least expensive contractor. We focus on helping our clients get the best value, not necessarily the lowest price. As we learn the priorities, we fine-tune our recommendations regarding trade professionals, materials, and methods to help our clients and their designers realize the highest satisfaction for their budget.

Question What is a typical payment schedule?
Answer We invoice once a month for work completed to date. We provide details on all labor, trade professionals, materials, and fees for the billing period. Since we invoice for work that has been completed and for which the trade professionals and suppliers have already been paid, we ask for payment within five days of the date of the invoice.

Question Are you licensed and insured?
Answer We are a fully licensed and insured General Contractor. We carry a large liability insurance policy to ensure you and your home are protected. Our license number and insurance policy are available upon your request.

Question How do you make sure my job is managed properly?
Answer Jeremy or Brandon will be assigned to your job and will work with trade professionals and suppliers as a team to oversee every detail—anticipating challenges, providing solutions, and ensuring your complete satisfaction. We work seamlessly and efficiently with our trade professionals, since most have been associated with us for many years and have become part of our extended “family”. To ensure that your experience is both interesting and enjoyable, we will also bring energy and passion to each step of the project. We challenge ourselves to continually grow in knowledge and in our pursuit to perfect the craft of remodeling.

Question Can I stay in my home during the remodel?
Answer We are committed to ensuring that the renovation of your home will not disrupt your entire life. We will take great care to safeguard your home, your family, your belongings, and your daily routine. We'll keep the lines of communication open, schedule carefully around your needs, and stay on the job until it is completed to your standards and ours. If you are doing a whole house remodel we recommend finding an alternative place to live.

Question How long will the job take?
Answer We provide computerized schedules for virtually every job we undertake. These schedules list each item in the scope of work, allowing the Owner to easily monitor job progress.
